The Currency Replacement Committee Begins Drafting Legislation for E-Payment Collection

Lieutenant General Engineer Ibrahim Jaber Ibrahim, Member of the Sovereignty Council and Assistant to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, chaired a meeting of the High Committee for Currency Replacement on Tuesday, with the attendance of the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim.

The meeting discussed the integration of banking applications and the progress of the Supervisory Committee for the Emergency E-Payment Room.

In a press statement, the Minister of Finance stated that the meeting reviewed reports on the committee’s progress, emphasizing the necessity of achieving electronic collection and payment across all government units. He noted that agreements have been made with several banks to facilitate the payment of government fees.

The minister further explained that the committee is working on drafting legislation and regulations to govern e-payment processes, ensuring proper compliance and imposing penalties on transactions conducted outside the electronic payment system.

Dr. Jibril also highlighted discussions regarding the possibility of implementing the currency replacement process in North Kordofan, South Kordofan, and other regions where the old currency has not yet been replaced.

The meeting directed the Ministry of Communications and Digital Transformation to provide the necessary tools for all ministries, enabling them to dispense with mobile devices. It also emphasized training accountants to enhance the efficiency of electronic systems.
