Afghan Man Arrested After Killing Two in Knife Attack at Park in Germany

German police said they arrested a 28-year-old Afghan man following a knife attack that killed two people, including an infant, in a park in Aschaffenburg on Wednesday.

The suspect was apprehended at the scene in the “Schwental Park,” an English-style park in the Bavarian city, where the attack occurred around 10:45 AM GMT, according to Reuters.

Police posted on the “X” social media platform that a 41-year-old man and a two-year-old boy were severely injured. Two others who were seriously wounded are being treated in hospital.

The police stated that there were no other suspects, and there is no danger to the public.

This stabbing incident adds to a series of violent attacks in Germany, raising security concerns and tensions over immigration ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for February 23.

A Saudi doctor was arrested after a car-ramming attack at a Christmas market in Magdeburg on December 20, which killed six people and injured about 200.
