Foreign report: Rapid Support Militias massacres 4000 Masalit tribesmen
Khartoum – Talal Mudathir
The National magazine has recently reported that the paramilitary Militia Rapid Support Forces and its Arab allies have killed four thousand civilians from the Masalit ethnic groups, during the attack against West Darfur state’s capital Al Genaina, and that they also committed wide range of violations during their control over the regional capital.
The paper argued that the actual number of civilians killed as announced by the Sudanese Ministry for Foreign Affairs, was four times the figure cited by Josep Borrell, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs who also warned against yet another genocide taking place in Darfur where the first civil war during the first decade of the 21st century claimed over 300 thousand lives and displaced over 2.5 million civilians.
Yusuf Al Douma, Sudanese Human Rights Activist, has denounced in a statement to the paper the attacks perpetrated against the Masalit community, citing in this case the ‘Rapid Support Forces. However, he argued the army shoulders part of the huge suffering incurred by the civilians there.
