SJS demands an independent investigation into the “Ardemta” incident

The Sudanese Journalists Syndicate (SJS) condemned what happened in the city of El Geneina, the capital of West Darfur State, according to reports and testimonies from eyewitnesses and survivors who spoke of horrific atrocities committed by the Rapid Support Forces that resulted in hundreds of cases of killing, displacement.
The union indicated in its statement on Sunday that these testimonies and reports reported the killing of more than (700) people in the Ardemta region in the period from the second of this November to the ninth of November, and the worst thing is that some of them were killed inside the hospital while receiving treatment. Some leaders of civil administrations and their families were also targeted and killed inside homes, including even the elderly and children.
The Syndicate announced that it adds its voice to those calling for an immediate cessation of fighting and a transparent and independent investigation on this incident and all similar incidents that have resulted from the war in Sudan since its outbreak in mid-April, especially identity-based murders.
The Syndicate also calls on the international community to put pressure on both sides of the war in Sudan, to immediately stop the fighting, allow the access of humanitarian aid, and withdraw military manifestations from civilian.
