Sudan Events – Follow-ups
The Deputy Chairman of the Sovereignty Council, Malik Aqar, met with the Minister of Energy and Oil, Dr. Mohieddin Naim Mohammed Said.
The meeting addressed the overall situation and challenges facing the energy and oil sectors, as well as efforts to enhance and develop them.
In a press statement, the Minister of Energy stated that he briefed the Deputy Chairman of the Sovereignty Council on the ministry’s plan, arrangements, and preparations for rebuilding, rehabilitating, and reconstructing what was destroyed by the war in the fields of oil, energy, and electricity.
He explained that the state’s policy for oil supply is based on enabling the private sector and liberalizing fuel to meet the country’s needs, while the public sector ensures the necessary supplies for strategic sectors. He pointed out that there is joint coordination between the public and private sectors, and a schedule has been set until the end of the year to meet their needs.
The minister added that the Deputy Chairman of the Sovereignty Council was reassured about the ongoing arrangements in the electricity sector for the post-war phase to provide power to the liberated areas.
He also noted that he informed Aqar of the Ministry of Energy and Oil’s communications with Qatar and Saudi Arabia to support and rehabilitate the oil, energy, and electricity sectors.
