1,385 Rape Cases Documented in Militia-Controlled Areas

The Unit for Combating Violence Against Women revealed on Friday that 1,385 cases of rape have been documented in areas controlled by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia between April 2023 and May 2025.

Salima Ishaq, Director of the Unit, told Sudan Tribune that the latest statistics show 1,385 documented rape cases, including 204 involving young girls. She confirmed that all these crimes were committed in areas under RSF control.

Ishaq noted that healthcare services were provided to victims in the states of Khartoum, Al Jazirah, Sennar, North and West Kordofan, and across Darfur, from April 2023 until May this year.

She stated that 98% of the sexual violence cases are conflict-related, describing them as part of the war tactics employed by the RSF.

She also mentioned that there are cases of rape committed by regular forces, armed individuals, and civilians with weapons, due to widespread arms and the security vacuum.
