U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order banning citizens of 12 countries from entering the United States and imposing partial restrictions on citizens from 7 other countries. He also banned foreign nationals seeking to study at Harvard University.
According to this executive order, full restrictions are imposed on citizens from Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen.
Trump also announced partial restrictions on citizens from Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, and Venezuela, pledging to add more countries to the list if necessary.
In announcing the decision on Wednesday evening local time, the U.S. President said he found that “allowing citizens from some countries to enter our country would harm American interests unless measures are taken.”
