The Ministry of Justice welcomed Dr. Abdullah Mohamed Darf as Minister of Justice following his swearing-in before the President of the Sovereign Council.
He was received by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice, Maulana Howaida Ali Awad Al-Karim, the Attorney General of Sudan, and a significant number of legal advisors and staff members.
Minister Darf expressed his gratitude to the President of the Sovereign Council and the Prime Minister for placing their trust in him. He stated, “We will do our utmost to fulfill this responsibility in the best and most appropriate way.”
He emphasized that this mandate comes at an exceptional time in Sudan’s history, requiring cooperation and coordination among all judicial institutions to achieve a state governed by the rule of law.
He added, “We will use this appointment as a gateway to deliver justice through close coordination between judicial institutions and law enforcement. We are committed to upholding the rule of law—one of the key principles highlighted by the Prime Minister in his first address to the Sudanese people, and reaffirmed by the Sovereign Council President’s directive to establish a state built on the rule of law.”
He stressed equality before the law and noted that justice is a noble value that must be visible and tangible to the public through the enforcement of legal provisions, the restoration of rights, and the resolution of grievances.
He further explained that the ministry has a vision for legal reform in coordination with the judiciary, the Bar Association, law faculties, and relevant bodies. He affirmed his commitment to restoring public confidence in the justice and law enforcement systems.
“We pledge to the leadership of the state and the people of Sudan that we will place the rule of law at the forefront of our priorities,” he said, emphasizing that the upcoming phase requires collective efforts to support reconstruction, restore normal life, protect citizens, and provide essential services.
He confirmed that the ministry would recommend completing the formation of judicial institutions in line with its justice strategy.
