PM Issues Directive to Interior Ministry on Resolving Identity and National Number Crisis for Abyei Residents

Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris has directed the Ministry of Interior to urgently address the identity and national number crisis affecting citizens of the Abyei region. He affirmed that the “Hope Government” will examine all of the country’s problems and work earnestly to resolve them.

During a meeting at his office in Port Sudan with a delegation from the Supreme Council for Abyei Coordination, the Prime Minister was briefed on the overall situation in Abyei and acquainted with the region’s pressing issues, stressing that Sudan’s challenges require wise and measured handling.

Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. Police Babiker Samra, joined the meeting via phone and pledged his commitment to the Prime Minister’s directives, promising immediate action to resolve the matter and affirming the ministry’s dedication to resolving identity issues for all citizens.

The meeting agreed to form a small committee to follow up with the Ministry of Interior and expedite the resolution of the issue.

Council leaders, led by Chol Muon, outlined the key challenges facing the region, foremost among them the identity crisis, national number issues, and worsening humanitarian conditions. They also highlighted violations committed by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia against civilians, affirming their support for the Armed Forces in the War of Dignity until the complete defeat of the militia.

They expressed their full backing for the Hope Government under Kamil Idris. The council’s chairman declared, “We say to the Prime Minister: the Sudanese people are with you—keep moving forward.”
