Three Killed in Drone Strike on Tamboul

At least three people were killed and others injured on Wednesday when a drone operated by the Rapid Support Forces struck the city of Tamboul, east of Gezira State, coinciding with celebrations by Sudan Shield Forces marking the army’s 71st anniversary.

Local sources told Sudan Tribune that “a suicide drone belonging to the RSF crashed between Al-Shorouq School and Al-Inaya Medical Clinic in Tamboul, Gezira State, killing three people and injuring ten others, including students.”

Sudan Shield Forces commander Abu Aqla Kikl said in a video posted on the forces’ platforms that the drone attack on Tamboul was nothing more than “the thrashing of a dying animal,” vowing that such strikes would only strengthen their resolve.

He added that the reserve forces participating in the military parade would be immediately deployed to the Kordofan front to advance toward El Fasher and lift its siege.

In a statement, the Sudan Shield Forces spokesperson said, “Continuing in its vile and aggressive approach, the Al-Dagalo militia did not hesitate to target the 71st anniversary celebration of the Armed Forces with a drone. The attack resulted in the death and injury of several civilians, including three children.”

He noted that the security precautions taken by the forces had foiled the attack, which could have caused hundreds of casualties among soldiers and civilians.
