Standards Office Reopens at Qary and Container Zone

Interior Minister Gen. Babiker Samra Mustafa, Khartoum State Governor Ahmed Osman Hamza, Police Chief Gen. Khalid Hassan, and the Director of Sudan Customs inaugurated the Sudanese Standards and Metrology Organization (SSMO) office in Qary and the container zone after its rehabilitation.

The interior minister praised the SSMO’s vital role in monitoring exports and imports, urging for faster clearance procedures in the area.

For her part, SSMO Director-General Rahba Saeed announced the office’s full operational readiness, stressing the importance of the reopening for facilitating trade and ensuring the smooth flow of goods and services. She noted that the office had been fully rehabilitated with upgraded infrastructure, modern inspection systems, and trained personnel, as part of efforts to support post-war reconstruction in partnership with Sudan Customs, the Sudanese Free Zones and Markets Company, and other stakeholders.

Saeed concluded by affirming the SSMO’s commitment to close coordination with all entities working in the Qary and container area, pledging to remove obstacles, provide guidance, and foster teamwork for the benefit of the country, consumer protection, and the national economy.
