Finance Ministry: High-Level Meeting in New York Praises Sudan’s Voluntary National Report

Mohamed Bashar, Undersecretary for Planning at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, confirmed that Sudan’s third Voluntary National Report on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), presented at the recent High-Level Political Forum in New York, received wide acclaim. The report was praised for its preparation, presentation, and for highlighting Sudan’s continued progress on several SDGs despite the devastating impact of the war.
Speaking Monday at a workshop in Port Sudan organized by the ministry in cooperation with the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development, Bashar said the report aimed to draw global attention to the scale of war damage on citizens and the country, while also outlining reconstruction and recovery priorities and underscoring Sudan’s ongoing commitment to the SDGs. He further noted that the local voluntary report prepared by Red Sea State was the first of its kind.
Bashar revealed his participation in several key meetings while presenting the report, including a session with the UNDP Regional Bureau to discuss Sudan’s recovery program and the provision of technical assistance, as well as a meeting of the African Peer Review Mechanism, which shares successful development planning experiences. He said the council pledged technical support to Sudan.
