FAO: We Seek to Help Sudan Rebuild Its Agricultural and Livestock Sectors

Member of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council and Deputy Commander-in-Chief, Lt. Gen. Eng. Ibrahim Jaber Ibrahim, met on Monday with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Resident Representative in Sudan, Hongjie Yang.

Jaber received a briefing on the organization’s activities and its plans to support rehabilitation and reconstruction in Khartoum State, as well as to assist Sudanese communities in developing the agricultural sector.

For his part, the FAO representative noted that Khartoum is among the leading states in vegetable production and hosts large numbers of livestock, which have suffered significant losses due to the war.

He affirmed the organization’s readiness to support Sudan in rebuilding its agricultural and livestock sectors, with the aim of strengthening food security across the country.
