U.S. Magazine Accuses UAE of Supporting Genocide in Darfur

Liam Carr, writing in RealClearPolitics, warned that Sudan may be on the brink of a new genocide, pointing to atrocities by the RSF in El-Fasher and elsewhere.

Carr accused the United Arab Emirates of being the main enabler of ongoing violence in Sudan, arguing that unless the U.S. intervenes, Darfur risks becoming the next epicenter of mass atrocities.

He urged President Donald Trump and U.S. officials to increase pressure on both the RSF and the UAE, which he described as holding significant sway over the militia, in order to prevent further catastrophe and protect nearly one million civilians at risk.

According to Carr, the RSF’s siege of El-Fasher displaced 780,000 people and trapped nearly 900,000 civilians in the city and surrounding camps, cutting them off from aid and forcing many—mostly women and children—to survive on animal feed and scraps.

He cited the RSF’s attack on Zamzam displacement camp in April, where locals reported more than 1,500 deaths, describing it as the second-largest massacre of the war. The atrocities included mass executions, forced displacement, and sexual violence—acts amounting to crimes against humanity under international law.
