WHO Urges Immediate Aid Delivery to “Fashir” to Save 130,000 Children

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom called on Saturday for the immediate transfer of supplies from Nyala to Fashir to save 130,000 children suffering from malnutrition. In a post on X, Tedros stressed that the pre-stocked supplies in Nyala must reach Fashir immediately, as lives depend on them.

He noted that 260,000 people in Fashir require health assistance, with 130,000 children malnourished. Survivors of sexual violence lack medical and psychosocial support. The besieged city, under blockade for over 500 days, reports 5,000 suspected cholera cases with nearly 100 related deaths. Thirty-five health facilities have been destroyed, and WHO supplies are depleted.
