Prime Minister: Committed to Addressing Issues of the Gezira Scheme

During a visit on Saturday to ginneries, workshops, and seed warehouses in the Gezira Scheme at Marengan, Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Al-Tayeb Idris stated that the revival of the Gezira Scheme is tantamount to reviving the national economy. He affirmed the government’s commitment to resolving the project’s challenges.

Gezira State Governor Al-Tahir Ibrahim Al-Kheir reiterated his administration’s dedication to reviving the scheme, describing it as the key to rescuing the national economy and the first line of defense in securing Sudan’s food supply.

Meanwhile, Badr Al-Din Jumaa Hamad, Director General of the Gezira Scheme ginneries, revealed that losses from the 12 ginneries are estimated at $120 million, stressing the urgent need for rehabilitation and development.
