The National Mine Action Center announced the destruction of 50,000 unexploded ordnances, in addition to anti-tank mines and large quantities of small arms ammunition.
Major General Khalid Hamdan, Director of the Center, told the Sudan News Agency (SUNA) that the operation covered munitions collected in recent months and that clearance efforts are ongoing.
He stressed that strict safety protocols were observed during the operation and that civilians were barred from approaching the area. He urged citizens not to tamper with or attempt to handle any discovered ordnance, but to immediately report such findings to security authorities or via hotline 60666.
