La Liga: Barcelona Thrash Valencia with Six-Goal Rout

Defending champions Barcelona produced a commanding display in their first home match of the season, dismantling Valencia 6-0 on Sunday at the Johan Cruyff Stadium in the fourth round of La Liga.

Fermín López scored twice (29, 56), while substitutes Raphinha (53, 66) and Robert Lewandowski (76, 86) each added braces.

The result lifted Barcelona to second place with 10 points, two behind leaders Real Madrid, who defeated Real Sociedad 2-1 on Saturday.

It was Barça’s first home game after three weeks on the road. The Catalan side were unable to return to their renovated Spotify Camp Nou, still under construction until 2026, and played instead at the Johan Cruyff Stadium, which holds 6,000 fans, due to an event at the Olympic Stadium.

The team were without teenage prodigy Lamine Yamal, sidelined after being forced to play for Spain despite a groin issue—a decision that angered coach Hansi Flick. Midfielder Frenkie de Jong also missed out with injury, while Gavi and Alejandro Balde remain long-term absentees.
