First Sudanese-Brazilian Forum Kicks Off

The first Sudanese-Brazilian Forum was inaugurated on Thursday in São Paulo, Brazil.
Addressing the opening session, Sudan’s Secretary-General of the National Investment Authority, Ahlam Madani Mahdi, said that holding the forum at this critical juncture in Sudan’s history represents a beacon of hope and a gateway to the future, where the first steps of national recovery begin by crossing the regional bridge to the heart of South America and to friendly Brazil.
She praised Brazil’s significant role in Africa and affirmed Sudan’s commitment to advancing and promoting initiatives for economic cooperation and partnerships with friendly nations to confront global economic challenges and transformations, with the aim of achieving common interests through a solid strategic approach.
Madani stressed the importance of leveraging Sudan’s comparative advantages in resources and combining them with capital to foster joint ventures across different business sectors. She noted that the war had created a new reality requiring the removal of all obstacles through a unified government action plan, while economic and political developments had heightened competition to attract investment into Sudan.
Highlighting that Sudan’s investment law ranks among the most advanced in the Arab and African regions for its emphasis on securing land for projects, encouraging state-level investments, and ensuring investor protection, she expressed hope that the forum would result in the signing of joint projects that attract Brazilian companies to invest in Sudan. She described the forum as an opportunity for all sectors to forge “smart partnerships” that can drive the economy forward, urging Brazilian business leaders to take advantage of Sudan’s vast resources, particularly in food security.
For his part, Sudan’s Ambassador to Brazil called for active contributions to the country’s reconstruction, exploring investment opportunities, and strengthening cooperation and partnerships between the two nations.
