Afreximbank: Continued Support for Sudan’s Vital Projects

In Cairo, Sudanese Minister of Energy, Eng. Advisor Al-Mutassim Ibrahim Ahmed, discussed financing for energy projects with the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), which has funded several of Sudan’s key power initiatives, most notably the Port Sudan (Kalanayib) power plant and the Garri-3 station.
The minister met with Elias Kakoumia, the bank’s Director of Risk, along with other officials, and leaders from the National Energy and Electricity Company and the Sudanese Electricity Company.
During the talks, Afreximbank affirmed its commitment to continue supporting vital projects in Sudan, noting that the completion of the Kalanayib and Garri-3 stations is progressing steadily according to schedule.
Minister Ibrahim, in turn, pledged the ministry’s readiness to remove any obstacles hindering the projects, expressing gratitude to the bank for its efforts to ensure continuity of what he described as strategic initiatives. He also stressed the importance of maximizing Sudan’s full membership in Afreximbank.
