Power Gradually Restored Across Sudanese States

The states of Khartoum, Gezira, River Nile, and Red Sea witnessed widespread power outages in the early hours of Thursday morning after the Merowe Dam went offline when its gates were opened and all turbines activated the previous evening.
Authorities announced today that electricity supply has been gradually restored to several areas, stressing that efforts are continuing to fully reestablish service in the coming hours.
Officials urged the public to verify information and not fall prey to rumors, dismissing claims that one of the power stations had come under a drone attack as “completely false.” They emphasized that the situation is under control and there is no cause for concern, with technical teams working to ensure a full stabilization of the electricity supply.
