Sudan and China Discuss Digital Transformation Cooperation

Sudanese Minister of Digital Transformation and Communications, Ahmed Dardiri Gandour, met with China’s Minister of Industry and Information Technology, Li Licheng, on the sidelines of the China–Africa Digital Cooperation Forum in Addis Ababa.

Gandour stressed the importance of enhancing bilateral cooperation in digital transformation, highlighting Sudan’s ability to benefit from Chinese expertise in building telecom infrastructure and developing human capacity.

The meeting also discussed Sudan’s digital transformation strategy, regional projects leveraging its geographic position, and capacity-building initiatives aimed at making Sudan a regional partner in digital development.

The minister also met separately with the African Telecommunications Union’s secretary-general, China’s telecom science academy director, Ethiopia’s minister of innovation and technology, and the UNDP’s Africa office head.

Sudan, he noted, continues to pursue clear steps to tie digital transformation to citizen services and national economic growth, reflecting the government’s commitment to inclusive sustainable development.
