Neto After Beating Benfica: Chelsea Learned Their Lesson From Bayern

Chelsea’s Portuguese forward Pedro Neto believes his team quickly learned from their opening defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League, bouncing back with a win over Benfica on Matchday Two.
An own goal handed Chelsea, led by manager José Mourinho, the victory over Benfica. The match saw few clear chances, but after Enzo Maresca’s side lost 1–3 to Bayern in their opening fixture, this result put Chelsea back on track following three defeats in their previous four games across competitions.
Neto combined with Argentine teammate Alejandro Garnacho to help create the decisive moment in the 18th minute, when Benfica midfielder Richard Ríos diverted a cross into his own net.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Neto said: “We learned from the first game, and we are very happy.”
He added: “I think the team played really well. We knew the difficulties we faced in the first match, and we tried hard to control the game. I believe we showed great resilience.”
Neto also told Britain’s Press Association: “Benfica are a tough side, especially at home. We knew we had to work hard against them. We played well, and with the quality we have, we could have controlled the game even more. But we’re very happy with the three points.”
