Al-Burhan: Committed to Continuing Cooperation with South Sudan

Chairman of the Sovereign Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, received a written message from South Sudanese President Salva Kiir Mayardit concerning bilateral relations and ways to strengthen cooperation in all fields.

Al-Burhan met Sunday in Port Sudan with South Sudan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mundaya Simaya Kumba, in the presence of Sudanese Foreign Minister Mohieldin Salem and Sudan’s Ambassador to South Sudan, General Issam Al-Din Karar.

In a press statement, Minister Kumba said he conveyed President Kiir’s message to General Al-Burhan regarding the progress of bilateral relations and shared interests between the two nations, along with discussions on issues of mutual concern.

He noted that the meeting addressed means of enhancing cooperation and coordination in regional and international forums.
Kumba added that Al-Burhan reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining close collaboration with President Kiir and the South Sudanese government to achieve mutual benefits.

The South Sudanese minister described his visit to Sudan as “fruitful,” adding that his meeting with the Sovereign Council leader was “friendly and historic.”
