Transitional Sovereignty Council Chairman General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan met on Tuesday with Spanish Ambassador to Sudan Isidro Antonio, in the presence of Acting Undersecretary of the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Yousif.
The meeting discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen and develop them.
In a press statement, the Spanish ambassador said he conveyed Spain’s message of support for peace in Sudan following the end of the war and the return of displaced persons and refugees to their homes. He added that the talks also addressed bilateral ties and Spain’s potential role in post-war reconstruction efforts.
Ambassador Antonio expressed his hope for Sudan’s return to a civilian democratic transition and for enabling civilians to assume their rightful roles in various sectors. He affirmed his country’s solidarity with the Sudanese people as they endure this hardship, stressing the importance of ending the war that has destroyed vital infrastructure and basic services.
