Sources in Al-Nahud revealed systematic destruction of the health sector by the RSF, which controls the city. Local health centers estimated losses in the thousands of dollars.
Around 26 medical centers and clinics were deliberately destroyed after equipment and solar panels were looted, while government hospitals suffered theft and destruction, particularly diagnostic labs and medical devices.
Due to the destruction, medical services halted, forcing residents to self-medicate without professional guidance. Only one teaching hospital remained functional, staffed solely by nurses and lab technicians. The RSF had relocated 21 medical personnel to treat their own wounded.
Pharmacies in the city were also looted, leaving the population without essential medicines. Dr. Al-Dawi Al-Maki, a surgical specialist in Al-Nahud, described the destruction as total, affecting six specialized clinics and all medical equipment, infrastructure, and medications. He noted that expensive devices, such as X-ray machines, were stolen from clinics like Mohamed Abdel-Majid Clinic.
