Venezuela Reaffirms Strong Support for Sudan’s Legitimate Government

On Tuesday, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela announced its strong support for Sudan and its legitimate transitional government led by Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council.

Sudan’s Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs, Hussein Al-Amin, met with Venezuelan Deputy Foreign Minister Yuri Alexander on the sidelines of the 19th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting held in Kampala from October 14–16.

Al-Amin briefed his Venezuelan counterpart on developments in Sudan and expressed Sudan’s desire to strengthen bilateral relations with Venezuela through the establishment of a political consultation committee between their foreign ministries, as well as enhancing economic and trade cooperation, particularly in the agricultural and mineral sectors.

Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander reaffirmed Venezuela’s strong support for Sudan and the transitional government under Al-Burhan, highlighting the countries’ shared commitment to facing mutual threats and coordinating efforts to advance their positions in international forums, in recognition of the historically strong relations between the two nations.
