Police Director General Lieutenant General Amir Abdel Moneim affirmed that refugees are being relocated to camps to ensure their protection and access to humanitarian aid, which will be provided through organizations working in the relief sector. He stressed that “the rightful place for refugees is within camps, not major cities.”
The police chief held discussions with UN Deputy High Commissioner for Refugees Kelly Clements, European Commission Director-General for Humanitarian Aid Maybeg Boyovsky, and EU Ambassador Aidan O’Hara on support for those affected by the current situation.
The meeting also addressed assistance for refugees arriving from neighboring countries, repatriated Sudanese citizens, and broader cooperation with the UNHCR and the EU’s humanitarian agencies.
The visiting delegation commended Sudan’s six-decade-long record of hosting refugees and safeguarding their legal and human rights, reaffirming the EU and UN’s commitment to strengthening coordination and support in this area.
