“Quad” Meeting in Washington Pushes for Peace in Sudan

Masad Paulos, senior U.S. advisor for Arab and African affairs, announced that Washington hosted a meeting of the Quad Committee on Sudan, including representatives from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.

The meeting aimed to “advance collective efforts toward peace and stability in Sudan, including securing an urgent humanitarian truce, achieving a permanent ceasefire, ending external support to militias, and moving toward civilian governance.”

Paulos noted that the Quad members reaffirmed their commitment to the ministerial statement issued on September 12 and agreed to establish a joint committee to “enhance coordination on urgent priorities.” He emphasized that U.S. President Donald Trump “wants peace, and we are united in our commitment to end the suffering of the Sudanese people.”
