Sudan’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, Al-Zein Ibrahim Hussein, met with Giles Carbonnier, Vice President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), accompanied by Simon Kazabianka, Head of the ICRC Mission to the African Union.
The ambassador detailed violations of international humanitarian law by the RSF militia in Al-Fashir and other besieged cities in Kordofan and Darfur. He urged pressure on the militia to allow humanitarian aid to reach populations under siege, citing improved conditions in areas liberated by the Sudanese army and the return of citizens to their homes in the capital and central Sudan.
Giles Carbonnier praised the ongoing cooperation between the ICRC and the Sudanese government and reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to supporting Sudan in humanitarian, health, and service sectors to alleviate war-related suffering.
