El-Sisi and Afwerki Agree on Supporting the Sudanese Army

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met on Thursday with Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki in Cairo.

Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy said the two leaders discussed developments in the Horn of Africa and agreed on the need to end the war in Sudan by supporting the country’s national institutions—foremost among them the Sudanese Armed Forces—and rejecting any attempts to create parallel entities.

President El-Sisi highlighted Egypt’s efforts within the “Quartet Mechanism” to end the war and alleviate the humanitarian suffering of the Sudanese people, reaffirming Egypt’s commitment to work with regional partners to ensure Sudan’s unity, territorial integrity, and sovereignty.
