Energy Ministry Reaffirms Commitment to Supporting the Winter Agricultural Season

Minister of Energy, Engineer Consultant Al-Mu’tasim Ibrahim Ahmed, stressed the ministry’s dedication to supporting agriculture by providing energy and fuel necessary for the success of the winter farming season across the states.

The statement came during his meeting on Wednesday with White Nile State Governor, Lieutenant General Qamar Al-Din Mohammed Fadl Al-Moula, who led a large delegation to discuss energy and fuel supplies, as well as the provision of transformers for hospitals, dialysis centers, and vital facilities in the state.

The minister noted that White Nile State is among the targeted areas for solar and wind power generation and holds promising potential in oil and gas. He emphasized the focus on expanding hydropower generation as a cost-effective alternative to thermal power, noting that many thermal power stations and the national control center had suffered deliberate destruction.
He pledged continued cooperation with the state, particularly in agriculture and health sectors.

For his part, the governor said the visit aimed to coordinate with the ministry amid the reconstruction efforts in White Nile State, which has now regained stability after widespread damage, especially to the electricity sector. He reaffirmed the state’s commitment to attracting industrial investments and reviving river transport with South Sudan.
