Sennar Governor Reviews Harvest Stage in Abu Hagar

The Governor of Sennar State, Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Al-Zubair Hassan Al-Sayed, inspected the agricultural areas in the localities of Singa and Abu Hagar, accompanied by the Minister of Production and Economic Resources and the Head of the Farmers’ Union. The delegation reviewed the harvest stage of various crops.
The governor praised the success of the agricultural season despite major challenges, confirming the cultivation of diverse crops such as sorghum, cotton, sesame, and peanuts.
He urged farmers to adopt technical packages and sustainable agriculture, directing them to adhere to planting tree belts in the rain-fed sector.
The governor affirmed that the government, in cooperation with the Ministries of Production and Finance, will intervene to set fair prices for crops such as cotton and sorghum in order to protect farmers from fluctuations in the unregulated market.
The Minister of Production and Economic Resources, Dr. Nour Al-Din Daoud Musa, confirmed the success of the season and the cultivation of about 80% of the targeted area in the rain-fed sector.
He noted that rain-fed cotton is a promising crop with lower costs and contributes to supporting the economy.
The minister called on investors to invest in the agricultural sector to achieve food security and sustainable development.
Attendees—including the former Minister of Production, agricultural engineer Al-Hadi Al-Sadiq, and the Executive Director of Abu Hagar locality—praised the stability and security witnessed by the state, which contributed to the success of the season.
The Director of the Rain-Fed Sector expected rain-fed cotton to produce six kantars per feddan, which is considered a good yield capable of improving soil fertility.
The Head of the State Farmers’ Union, Jaafar Ali Yousef, affirmed the union’s support for the government’s efforts to improve agricultural production.
