Agricultural Bank: Committed to Financing Gezira Project Farmers

The Director-General of the Agricultural Bank, Abdullah Al-Hassan Mahmoud, stated that the bank issued its financing policy for the current winter season early, in addition to instructing its branches to immediately commence financing with available resources and inputs.
In a press statement during a meeting at the bank’s headquarters in Port Sudan, he met with a delegation from the Gezira Project Farmers Initiative and representatives from various project offices, led by Madawi Al-Sheikh Al-Tom, who attended to discuss the bank’s efforts in providing financing for the 2025/2026 winter season for wheat and other winter crops.
He explained that the bank’s management is making continuous efforts to provide agricultural inputs, including seeds and fertilizers, in coordination with relevant authorities to ensure a successful agricultural season. He confirmed that all bank branches in the Gezira sector resumed operations after being rehabilitated and reopened this year, following looting and destruction during the war period.
He reiterated the bank’s commitment to financing Gezira Project farmers, highlighting the economic importance of the project and the ongoing consultation with the project’s governor, Ibrahim Mustafa.
For their part, the delegation expressed strong confidence in the Agricultural Bank, relying fully on it to provide seeds and fertilizers for the agricultural season. They also requested financing for the purchase of agricultural machinery and equipment, noting that many machines had been looted from the project during the invasion of the rebel militia in Gezira state at the end of 2023.
