The head of the Coordination of Civil Democratic Forces “Taqaddum” – former Sudanese Prime Minister Dr. Abdullah Hamdok said that the afflicted Sudanese people are in dire need of the United Nations during the coming period more than ever before.
On November 16, Sudan announced the end of the work of the United Nations Mission to Support the Transition in Sudan (UNTAMS), under the pretext of its disappointing performance and deviation from its basic mission. It formally addressed the Security Council and informed it of the decision.
The head of the “Taqadum” Coordination said through his tweet today, Monday, on the “X” platform, “Today, I sent two letters on behalf of the Coordination of Civilian Democratic Forces (Taqadum) to the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the President of the Security Council, asking them to maintain and renew the mandate of the United Nations Integrated Mission to Support the Transition in Sudan (UNITAMS)”

Hamdok justified his request to maintain the mission under the pretext of Sudan’s need for it in light of the October 2021 coup and the April 15 war that wiped out everything in the country.
For his part, former American diplomat Cameron Hudson commented on Hamdok’s appeal to the United Nations and tweeted in return, “I wonder if Hamdok had actually asked the civilians before submitting this appeal in their name,” He said as he did not see any popular support for him.

The Security Council established the United Nations Integrated Transitional Assistance Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS) in January 2021 to assist in the country’s transition to democratic rule, and to support the protection and promotion of human rights and sustainable peace.
