Al-Atta: Our Military Operations Will Extend to International Borders

Al-Obeid – Events
Member of the Sovereignty Council and Deputy Commander of the Sudanese Army, Lieutenant General Yasser Al-Atta, affirmed that the Sudanese Armed Forces have “fully prepared” for extensive military operations that may reach Sudan’s international borders.
Al-Atta emphasized, while addressing army forces and security agencies in Al-Obeid, that the armed forces have “entered the decisive phase” and that upcoming operations will be “coordinated, extensive, and conducted according to a carefully devised strategic plan to establish control and secure cities and vital roads.”
He added that the army “will not allow the tragedies that afflicted Sudanese cities over the past two years to be repeated,” noting that progress on several fronts “paves the way for the largest military operation since the start of the war.”
Al-Atta stressed that the army is “determined to reclaim all Sudanese territory.”
He also pointed out that the armed forces “will not neglect the protection of civilians,” and that the post-operation phase will involve “strict security arrangements to prevent the return of chaos.”
These statements come amid intensified battles in Kordofan and Darfur states, alongside ongoing international reports on deteriorating humanitarian conditions and mutual accusations between the warring parties regarding violations and targeting of civilians.
Observers note that Al-Atta’s reference to the “international borders” reflects a shift in the nature of military operations, suggesting a possible expansion of the conflict toward the western and southern borders, which could place Sudan in a more sensitive and complex phase.
