Council of Ministers Discusses Government’s Return to Khartoum

On Monday, the Council of Ministers held its regular meeting chaired by Dr. Kamel Idris, with the attendance of ministers, the Governor of Darfur, and the Governor of the Red Sea State.

The Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers stated that the meeting praised the efforts of the Armed Forces and other security units, along with their supporting forces, in the “Battle of Dignity” and for their role in defending the land and honor. The council also received several briefings on the overall situation in the country, including a report on the government’s return and relocation to Khartoum presented by Minister of Cabinet Affairs Dr. Lamia Abdelghafar, as well as a briefing on the conditions of displaced persons from El Fasher in North Darfur. The council instructed urgent attention to improve the health and educational conditions at the displaced persons’ centers.

The meeting also reviewed a detailed report on drug trafficking and smuggling presented by the Minister of Interior, commending the efforts of the relevant forces and calling for their continued motivation.

The Secretary-General noted that the council examined a report on the electricity and oil sectors presented by the Minister of Energy and Oil, highlighting the significant efforts of employees in these sectors.

Additionally, the council reviewed reports on the cost of living, the flow of essential goods and services, presented by the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, and on public health conditions, epidemics, and medical services, presented by the Minister of Health.

Prime Minister Dr. Kamel Idris directed the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure to prepare an urgent report on the condition of bridges in Khartoum State, including Al-Halfaya, Shambat, Al-Dabasin, and the southern part of Mak Nimr.
