Analysis Links War Dynamics to Decisive Battle in Kordofan

Political analyst Dr. Mohamed Wazen provided an in-depth assessment of the ongoing war in Sudan, asserting that the military focus is rapidly shifting from Darfur to North and West Kordofan. According to his analysis, these regions have become the main defensive front for the RSF following recent troop redeployments.

Wazen explained that the noticeable reduction of militia presence in most Darfur cities results from the redeployment of influential combat units to Kordofan, leaving the region less capable of resistance if the army penetrates militia lines. He described the Kordofan battle as pivotal, as breaking the RSF defenses could open the path to deeper areas of Darfur, potentially leading to a rapid collapse of militia forces due to disrupted supply lines.

He noted that the militia’s redeployment has created a relative security vacuum in favor of the army, increasing the likelihood of westward advances without significant resistance, similar to early clashes in Khartoum. Wazen also highlighted the growing public support for the army, framing the confrontation with the RSF as a matter of national dignity and delayed justice.

He concluded that the Kordofan battle is shaping the final lines of influence in Sudan, and any militia collapse in this front could mark a turning point toward rebuilding state institutions, securing stability, and enabling national and international accountability for wartime crimes.
