Sudan’s Sovereign Council member Abdullah Yahya Ahmed expressed the government’s and the people’s confidence in the armed forces and their allied units to defeat the “rebel” Rapid Support Forces and expel them from every part of the country.
Speaking during the launch of a relief convoy for displaced people in the northern state’s town of Al-Dabbah on Thursday, he said, “This unjust war imposed on Sudan and its people will end in a decisive victory, and the displaced will soon return to their homes with dignity.”
He added that the sacrifices of the martyrs would not be in vain, affirming that the Sudanese people and their armed forces remain determined to liberate the country from the rebellion.
The northern state’s governor, Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Abdelhamid, said the hospitality shown by local residents toward displaced families from Darfur reflects the solidarity of the Sudanese people in times of hardship.
He described the Sovereign Council member’s visit as a significant morale boost for the displaced, who have suffered greatly from RSF abuses.
