On Monday, the UN Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) held official funeral ceremonies for Bangladeshi peacekeepers killed in the attack on Kadugli, South Kordofan, while beginning the evacuation of its camp in the city.
Sources told Sudan Tribune that UNISFA conducted ceremonies for six fallen peacekeepers. The deceased were transported by helicopter to Wau, South Sudan, and then to Entebbe Airport in Uganda for transfer to Bangladesh.
A UNISFA source confirmed preparations are underway for evacuating the logistics camp in Kadugli, which houses the mission’s joint border monitoring and verification mechanism.
