Local sources reported on Sunday that a Russian patrol in the Central African Republic carried out an armed attack on a weekly market in the border town of Kabo, killing 12 Sudanese nationals and wounding five others.
The attack involved Sudanese pastoralists who were carrying arms; after refusing to surrender them, Russian forces opened fire. The operation employed two troop transport vehicles, two combat vehicles, and a reconnaissance drone.
The Wagner Group, active in gold mining operations across Africa, continues to conduct intensive patrols along the Sudan-Central African Republic border, carrying out violent attacks on Sudanese communities, resulting in dozens of deaths in recent months.
