RSF Militia Threatens to Pursue Teachers in Wad Banda

Local sources said on Sunday that the Rapid Support Forces militia in Wad Banda locality, West Kordofan State, threatened to pursue teachers if they failed to resume teaching, while simultaneously suspending Quranic school (khalwa) classes during the morning period.

Some local communities in the Kordofan region have resorted to sending children to khalwas as an alternative to formal education amid prolonged school closures.

Sources told Darfur24 that the RSF militia decided to reopen schools last week, informing teachers that they must return to work and threatening them with repercussions should they refuse.

They added that a number of teachers declined to resume teaching, while some parents refused to send their children back to school.

The sources also reported that the militia banned the teaching of the Quran in khalwas during the morning hours, restricting instruction to the evening period only.

Government schools in many areas have remained closed since the outbreak of the war.
