Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris affirmed the commitment of the Government of Hope to mobilize all its efforts and resources to accelerate the recovery of Khartoum State. He praised the significant role played by the state government in steering executive work and fulfilling its national duties under exceptional wartime conditions.
This came during his meeting on Thursday at his office with Khartoum State Governor Ahmed Othman Hamza.
Dr. Idris commended the growing role and sustained efforts of the Khartoum State Government in reconstruction and rebuilding.
In a press statement following the meeting, the governor said he briefed the Prime Minister on the overall situation in Khartoum State and the performance achieved during the past period.
He added that the meeting discussed the outcomes of the Khartoum State Development and Reconstruction Conference held recently, which identified the state’s needs and mechanisms for implementation. The discussions also addressed the repercussions of the war on Khartoum State and statistics related to the scale of damage, particularly to infrastructure. He highlighted the efforts of the state government in reconstruction in coordination with the Higher Committee for Creating a Conducive Environment for the Return of Citizens, which has made significant progress.
The governor stated that he handed the Prime Minister a copy of Khartoum State’s 10-year strategic recovery and reconstruction plan, with a focus on 2026 as the baseline year.
He further noted that the meeting examined the conditions of state employees, particularly following the state government’s decision for staff to resume work, as well as their needs, challenges, and entitlements.
