One person was killed and three others injured after drones belonging to the Rapid Support Forces militia targeted an aid convoy affiliated with the World Food Programme in the “Allah Kareem” area of North Kordofan State, while en route to displaced persons in El-Obeid.
In a statement, the Sudan Doctors Network said the attack constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and a full-fledged war crime, undermining humanitarian efforts to deliver life-saving assistance to civilians affected by the war, particularly amid the country’s deteriorating humanitarian conditions.
The network held the Rapid Support Forces fully responsible for the crime and called on the international community, the United Nations, and human rights organizations to take urgent and decisive action to protect humanitarian workers, ensure accountability, and open an independent and transparent investigation into the incident.
It also stressed the need to respect and protect relief convoys and humanitarian personnel and to halt all forms of deliberate targeting of civilians and humanitarian infrastructure.
