The Islamic Movement Disavows “Voices of Discord” and Reaffirms Commitment to Defending Sudan

The Sudanese Islamic Movement has issued a strongly worded statement warning against attempts to incite discord and undermine national unity, declaring its unequivocal disavowal of any remarks that contradict its official line. The statement appeared to reference groups seeking to draw the movement into regional conflicts.

In a communiqué signed by its Secretary-General, Ali Ahmed Karti, the movement asserted that its sole and unwavering position at this stage is the “defense of Sudan and its people” against what it described as hostile forces converging on the country.

The movement stressed that any statements advocating support for regional wars or deviating from the principle of national unity do not represent it or its membership. Citing Quranic verses warning against “fitna” (discord), the statement also condemned attacks targeting Arab and Islamic countries and violations of national sovereignty, arguing that developments across the region aim to break the will of peoples and impose hegemonic agendas.

It further called on national leaders to rise above divisions and prioritize supreme national interests, reaffirming the commitment of its leadership and grassroots members to positions that place Sudan’s stability first.
