The Sudanese army launched airstrikes targeting fuel markets in the cities of Al-Daein and Nyala in East and South Darfur, resulting in powerful explosions and casualties, according to sources who spoke to Ultra Sudan.
Sources said a drone strike hit the fuel market in Al-Daein, while warplanes carried out strikes on a fuel market east of Nyala, which is reportedly used to supply Rapid Support Forces (RSF) fighters with fuel in their battles against the army.
Eyewitnesses confirmed that the explosions filled Nyala’s sky with thick smoke and that local authorities were unable to bring the fire under control. Meanwhile, sources said the RSF detained civilians on accusations of collaborating with the army and sending coordinates of military sites.
The strikes come as part of an intensified aerial campaign carried out by the army for months against RSF positions in Darfur, including Nyala International Airport, the cities of Zalingei and El Geneina, and training camps, causing significant losses.
