Reem Abdeljalil, spokesperson for the High Committee for Voluntary Return from Uganda, announced that a Badr Airlines flight will transport 100 Sudanese nationals from Entebbe International Airport to Port Sudan on Sunday.
In a press statement on Saturday, she said the flight would be fully funded by the airline as part of voluntary return programs.
She added that Sudanese families would be gathered at a central location on Saturday evening before being transported to the airport on Sunday morning.
The voluntary return initiative aims to ease the burden on Sudanese refugees in Uganda, where approximately 93,000 Sudanese have sought refuge since the outbreak of conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces in mid-2023.
In February, the committee launched voluntary return programs following the army’s recapture of large areas in central and parts of western Sudan.
