Malaysian Company to Build Two New Berths at Osman Digna Port

The Director General of the Sea Ports Corporation, Engineer and Advisor Gilani Mohamed Gilani, has unveiled a number of upcoming projects, including the construction of two new berths at Prince Osman Digna Port by a Malaysian company, as part of the authority’s plan to expand the port’s capacity.

During an inspection visit to Prince Osman Digna Port in the city of Suakin, he told staff that the port was designed to serve as a strategic hub for Sudanese and African trade. He noted plans to establish petrochemical industries, in addition to an integrated shipbuilding zone and a floating dock that would be the largest on the Red Sea. He added that the consulting firm has already begun preparing the necessary technical studies.

He stressed that these current and future projects will contribute to revitalizing Suakin, creating broad economic and commercial activity, supporting the national economy, and strengthening the role of seaports in driving comprehensive development.
