
Ambassador Anas Al-Tayeb Al-Jailani, Sudan’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, met on Monday afternoon, April 27, with the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament (Milli Majlis), Ms. Sahiba Gafarova.
The meeting addressed the trajectory of Sudanese–Azerbaijani relations, with the Speaker welcoming the ambassador and affirming the deep fraternal ties between the two countries, as well as Azerbaijan’s commitment to developing them across various fields. She also expressed appreciation for Sudan’s supportive positions toward Azerbaijan in regional and international forums.
The Speaker praised the advanced level of bilateral relations between Baku and Khartoum, expressing readiness to further strengthen cooperation with Sudan. She also highlighted Azerbaijan’s role in several international parliamentary platforms and its candidacy for the presidency of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
For his part, the ambassador expressed his appreciation for the Speaker, commending her role in supporting international parliamentary work and reaffirming Sudan’s commitment to advancing bilateral relations in all areas. He also reviewed developments in Sudan, including the progress made by the armed forces, as well as the status of bilateral relations and ongoing agreements nearing completion in preparation for signing between the two countries.
He further noted the convening of the first meeting of the joint political consultation mechanism earlier this year, as well as the anticipated visit of the joint technical cooperation committee to Baku, which will explore ways to enhance cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The meeting concluded with an emphasis on the importance of continued coordination and consultation, as well as intensifying mutual visits, in order to strengthen the partnership and advance bilateral relations toward further development.
