Two Sudanese Women Die in Migrant Boat Crossing to Europe

Two Sudanese women died while attempting to cross the English Channel from the French coast to the United Kingdom, according to British newspapers and international news agencies.

French officials reported that one of the victims was 16 years old, while the other was in her twenties. Christophe Marx, Secretary-General of the Pas-de-Calais prefecture, stated that the bodies of the two women were found inside the boat after it ran aground on the beach of Neufchâtel-Hardelot.

According to The Guardian, the boat was carrying around 82 people, and the two victims were found dead on board upon arrival at the shore.

Officials indicated that three survivors are in critical condition due to burns caused by fuel mixing with seawater, while 14 others sustained varying injuries, five of whom were taken to hospital for treatment.

Rescue teams managed to pull 17 people from the sea, while 65 others remained on board until the boat drifted ashore after its engine failed.
